Norbert Bruggen, 1996, 'Submarine Technology', Traplet Publications, Worcestershire, United Kingdom, ISBN 1-900371-04-9, 99 pages. Whow. This is fantastic! This book shows you how to build a model submarine that can acctually dive. Each aspect of model submarines is treated and it even gives layouts of e.g. electronic depth control. Get this book if you want to make model subs!

Erminio Bagnasco, 2000, 'Submarines of World War II, Cassell & Co, London, ISBN 1-85409-532-3, 256 pages. Very nice book that shows the submarines of WWII that were used by all of the countries involved in this war. A lot of plans of the different boats are presented.

Tom Clancy, 1993, 'Submarine, A Guided Tour Inside a Nuclear Warship', Berkley Books, New York, ISBN 0-425-13873-9, 328 pages. Humm, Tom Clancy, that does ring a bell. Nice work, treating technical details and submarine warfare tacktics. Probably the best book to learn submarine warfare, if your not in the Navy. 

T.L. Francis, 1997, 'Submarines - Leviathans of the deep-', Metrobooks,  ISBN 1-56799-427-x, 144 pages. This is a nice picture book. Using a large format (14'' x 11'') the history of submarines is shown. 

Norman Friedman, 1994, 'U.S. Submarines since 1945', Annapolis, Maryland, ISBN 1-55750-260-9, 280 pages. Very good book, it describes the submarine technology of modern USA submarines in great detail. 
 

Christopher Chant, 1996, 'Submarines of the 20th Century', Tiger books international, London, ISBN 1-85501-804-7, 144 pages. A lot of photo's and artist impressions.

Gabler, Ulrich, 1987, 'Unterseebootbau', Bernard & Graefe Verlag. Kolenz, ISBN 3-7637-5286-2,  145 pages. Wonderfull book. It describes every detail of submarine construstion. Nice feature are the adds of companies that sell submarine technologuy.

Robert and Robin Genat, 'Modern US Navy Submarines',1997, Motorbooks International, ISBN 0-7603-0276-6, 96 pages. Beautiful book containing wonderful pictures of the American fast attack and ballistic missile boats both from the outside and from the inside. If you want to know what modern submarining is about, get this book. I love it!

Gerretse, K.H.L. and J.J.A. Wijn, 1993, 'Drie Cylinders Duiken Dieper, Van Soerden & Co., Amsterdam, ISBN 90-6881-027-8, 112 pages. Very nice book covering the history of the Dolfijn class from the design stage to the placement of the Tonijn in a museum.

Bryton Harris, 1997, 'The navy times book of Submarines - a political, social, and military history-', Berkley Publishing group, New York, 398 pages. The history of the submarine is dscribed in this  book.

Hervey, J. B., 1994, 'Submarines', Naval Vessels, Weapons, Systems and Technology Series, Vol. 7, Brassey's (UK), 289 pages. A book treating the technical details of submarine boats and warfare.

Paul Kemp, 1999, ' Midget Submarines of the Second World War, Chatham Publishing, London, ISBN 1-86176-042-6, 125 pages. Book filled with authentic WWII pictures and with two plans of a British (X5-10) and a German XXVIIB Seehund midget submarine. 

David Miller, 1990, 'Gevechtswapens, Moderne Onderzeeboten', Hema b.v., 77 pages. Each treated submarine gets two pages, including specs., an artist impression and some info. 

Eberhard Moller, 1995, 'Kurs Atlantik', Motorbuch Verlag, Stuttgart, Germany, ISBN 3-613-01652-4, 286 pages. German book about the submarine development until 1945. This book contains pictures of German submarine heros but has a strong emphasises on the submarine technonolgy. Great book!

Richard Knowles Morris, 1998, 'John P. Holland, Inventor of the Modern Submarine, University of South Carolina Press, ISBN 1-57003-236-X. The history of the father of the submarines J.P. Holland. 

Antony Preston, 'Die Geschichte der U-Boote, Karl Muller Verlag, ISBN 3-86070-697-7, 144 pages. Book containing a lot of nice photo's and pictures of submarines. 

Mark K. Ragan, 1995, 'The Hunley - submarines, sacrifice, & success in the civil war-, Narwhal Press Inc. Miami (USA),  ISBN 1886391-05-X, 240 pages. Extensive treatment of the history of the Hunley, including a lot of original documents. 

Eberhard Rossler, 1999, 'Vom Original zum Modell: Ubottyp II - Die Einbaume-', Bernard & Graefe Verlag, Bonn, ISBN 3-7637-6023-7, 88 pages. This book is packed with black 'n white pictures of the original boat and some color pictures of a museum boat. Great book, outlining the history of the boat and presenting a lot of technical drawings. It even shows how the rudder and dive plane control in the original boat works! Get this boot if you want to build this type of U-boot. Note that the publisher also has booklets on the 205 and the VII C German submarines. 

Dan van der Vat, 1994, 'Stealth at Sea - the history of the submarine-', Orion, ISBN 1-85797-867-1, 421 pages. Very nice book covering the history of the submarine from the beginning via WWII to the nuclear subs. Latter period is less extensively treated.
